Stephanie Fitzgerald wins French Immersion Educator of the year award

High River, AB, June 9th – 2023

Stephanie Fitzgerald received the French Immersion Educator of the Year award for her exceptional skills in teaching in her classroom. This award was presented to her jointly by Canadian Parents for French Alberta and the Alberta French Language Education Consortium.

Stephanie Fitzgerald teaches at Joe Clark School in High River, Alberta. She built a class environment focused on creativity and teamwork to encourage her students to grow within her classroom. (Krista Rowland-Collins) A parent of one of her students stated, “On a personal note, Stephanie has guided my child, supported her through difficult times and has always encouraged her to be her best self. She always takes time during her day to make my daughter feel appreciated and worthy. Stephanie cares deeply about the teaching profession and this shows in all that she does for her students and Joe Clark School.” As expressed by this parent, Stephanie’s care and dedication in her classroom is evident to those she surrounds.

As a French Immersion teacher, Stephanie provides enrichment for her students through French cultural activities. She has taught her students about Carnaval, a winter festival with games, fun treats, and a mascot named Bonhomme Carnaval. She is passionate about her student’s education and is able to inspire them with a genuine love for language learning.
