OLEP (Official Languages Education Protocol) Funding Formula Adjustment & How this will Impact French Immersion and French Second Language Programming.
On April 27th, 2020 CPF Alberta was invited to participate in a conference with the Education Minister and staff to be informed of recent changes to the OLEP Funding Formula Adjustments for 2019/2020 as well as adjustments to the formula for 2020/2021 school year.

What is important to understand is that the total OLEP funding amount has not changed, but how it is distributed has.

What does this mean for French Immersion and French second language programs in Alberta? It means there will be less funding and reductions as much as 27%.

Adjustments to the OLEP funding formula will have a negative impact on the ability to provide programming and inevitably, the trend of increased enrollment for French Immersion and French second language programs in the province of Alberta.
What can you do to show your support for French Immersion and French second Language programs?
Fill out the attached form letter adding your personal comments and CPF Alberta will submit it to your MLA, Premier, Minister of Education and Minister of Advanced Education to reevaluate the decision to adjust the OLEP funding formula.
